Ha! I always read, “It's complicated” as meaning someone was on the brink between dating and being in a relationship but they hadn't had “the talk” about it yet. Never occurred to me there could be a negative angle.

Hey Deanna, thanks for commenting. I'm not sure; maybe it is more challenging. If you're older and single I guess it's no walk in the park. When you're older and looking for a relationship, you're tapping into a pool of divorced people and sometimes that's ok, but sometimes that comes with a ton of baggage. I'd like to do a survey on this; I'm curious.

Thanks for commenting Maco. Ya know, your reason behind your it's complicated status is a pretty normal one for many people, but I think majority of people with that status are just in some mess. I'm solely basing that on the type of update they post in reagrds to relationship issues.

For me, “It's Complicated” means “we're in an extremely long-distance relationship, and we can't resolve our geographical incompatibilities yet, but when we do, we'll be in a serious relationship.”
